Hello! Thank you for stopping by. I’m Melanie Johnson and food, delicious bakes and home are my thing. I’ve spent over a decade writing about seasonal cooking for Country Life magazine, and somewhere between the kitchen and the garden, I realised that the moments I loved most weren’t just about what was on the plate — they were about everything around it, too.
I started Mel at Home because I believe the ritual of making life beautiful is good for the soul. Whether it’s baking something that fills the house with warmth, or setting a table that makes a Tuesday feel like an occasion, it’s the small details that turn everyday life into something your family will remember. As a mother, and as someone who’s learned not to take any of it for granted, those moments mean everything to me.
Mel at Home began with cookies — soft, molten-centred, made from the finest ingredients after a year of tasting, testing, and one very dedicated trip to New York. But it’s growing into something bigger: beautiful things for your home, your kitchen, and the people you love. Life isn’t about perfection, it’s about care, warmth and joy in all the seemingly small details.
